Tree Tunnel Update:
We have 244 signatures on the Petition to clean up the Tree Tunnel! Great joy reigns! It will run until December 1st and I raised the bar to a goal of 500 -- heard a rumor that 500 is the magic political number -- so tell all to sign.
New On the Site:
If you have an idea for St. Helena, send it in -- would love to give credit where due.
1. There is a new Ideas page with 2 new ideas on it -- an economic one supporting the concept of "intrinsic authenticity" in which place itself is the core of economic growth. In St. Helena's case this would mean becoming the Agricultural Center of the region, a title that no other city in Napa County, the Bay Area's most agricultural county, currently owns in the public's mind. There is such a thing as the Modern Farmer and we could personify the concept.
2. Then there is Henry Gundling's brilliant idea of planting another Tree Tunnel at the southern entrance to the City. Check out all the reasons why this is a real winner.
3. SPECIAL REQUEST: Please participate in the Napa Valley Housing Survey currently going on. It closes Nov. 22, so please on do this soon.
4. Check out 3 new files to help us meet the future on the Good Government page:
- A Guide to a Sense of Place -- A great plan for focusing community identity around
its place and natural assets. It's a zip file so double click to open it.
- Free Market Myth -- Why just letting the "market" take care of development falls
short; deals with the market rules and who benefits.
- Napa Valley Travel Behavior --This is currently an ongoing study to be concluded and disseminated in Feb. 2014 to gather all the details about traffic in Napa County. It shows heat maps, line maps, desire line maps, all information that can influence planning and business decisions throughout the Valley.
Thanks,
Sandy
