The Tree Tunnel: Over the years not only have the trees gone into
neglect (aside from replacement only) but so also has the responsibility of
the City to develop a permanent maintenance program between all the
stakeholders. If you feel the time has come to finally solve the
problem, please sign this petition. 300 - 500
hundred signatures would be good and signers must live within the city
limits.

Demographics:
Then check all the new files from PopDynamics at USC, a center for the
study of California demographics. These academic studies refute prejudicial
opinion. Also check the Nimby Chart for symptoms. (Scroll down on the
Demographics page.)
3. Interesting Update on the
Small Winery Ordinance: After much debate over how to handle
Vice-Mayor Sharon Crull's possible conflict of interest on this issue at
the last City Council meeting during which the City Attorney advised the
Council that assurance must be obtained from the California State Fair
Political Practices Committee before she can safely vote (see Star article), we get this report from a
local TV Council watcher: "I called my contact, with the FPPC
this morning, (got thru on the first ring, as I always have), and she
explained again, that 'they make no judgment calls on whether a person
should vote on an issue or not. Each member has been given the rules,
and it is up to the individual, knowing those rules, to recuse themselves
or not. The FPPC only gets involved after the person has involved
himself in the process, by voting on an issue where they might receive a
benefit'." If that's the case, then why the Council/City Attorney
routine and who wants to postpone the ordinance for 2 months -- and why?

Go See: Robert Reich's important and timely film, Inequality
for All, billed as
"a passionate defense of the middle class" which will be shown at
the Cameo next Wednesday, 3PM &
8:30PM. This is an important issue for St. Helena as we confront our
housing crisis.
5. Finding Information:
Remember that if you want to view the Staff Reports of City Council or
Planning Commission meetings in time to react, you have to go to the Calendar section of the top menu on the
City of St. Helena website and look for the next meeting date, click on the
agendas -- then look for the devil in the details. The webpages for
each board do not have current agendas, minutes or videos.
