First,
there is the re-zoning item on the Planning Commission agenda on Tuesday
night. This item is almost 2 years over due, apparently, to bring 12
zoning districts in line with the existing Housing Element. It should
be watched since this is the first time we have heard about affordable
housing in any form in a long time -- looks like it's not for workforce but
for special populations. The Details. For enlightenment, here
is the Zoning Map shown in the 2010 General Plan
and here is the Zoning Map shown on the City's website as
current -- zoom in for the details there. Should they be the same in
terms of density?
And,
here's the results of the SHWindow Survey on the idea
of an Initiative. This does not mean it will happen but it does mean
that the next steps will be researched. In addition to the numbers shown,
there were 9 more who just hit Reply to "initiative or not",
indicating they thought we should go ahead. Many respondents left
volunteer names and comments which will cannot be shared here.
Then
there's a think piece -- the new Public Policy Institute of Calif. Survey
out on the State. As we can see, St. Helena people are not the only ones
realizing that acknowledging reality is the new priority.
